About The Role
We are presently seeking to recruit a Store/Depot Maintenance Operative to work for our successful Airports Division.
Based from our Works Depot at Gatwick Airport, you will undertake works in connection with the stores and the yard, managing the issuing of store’s material and the maintenance of stock. This will include purchase orders, receiving goods and managing the yard and offices facilities.
Key responsibilities
Stores:
- Ordering materials.
- Ensure the depot cleanliness in maintained.
- Loading/unloading materials using counterbalance forklift
- Working with the Managers ensure the depot contains sufficient material for upcoming works.
- Movement of vehicles when required.
- Participate in winter & emergency call out (only at times of high demand)
- Carry out depot housekeeping audits.
- Ensure our internal and external customers receive a courteous service
- Manage vehicle movements and parking in the yard
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of materials onto vehicles and assisting colleagues in this task where necessary
- All materials must be secure on the vehicles to enable safe transportation and to avoid any loss or damage
- Keep yard clean and tidy to include perimeter checks as necessary
- Manage the skips on site, ensuring that materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate skips to maximise recycling possibilities
- Highways experience preferable but not essential.
- Stores experience preferable but not essential
- Forklift experience/licence
- Contraction material knowledge preferable but not essential
- Computer literate
- Timekeeping
- Tidy nature
- Safety conscious
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Well organised
- CSCS card holder
- Full driving license
- Banksman qualification and plant tickets advantageous
- Be methodical and ensure operating procedures for the stores are enforced on all levels
- Be able to work on own initiative and meet set deadlines
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and multitask
- Good interpersonal skills & communication skills
- You must possess a high degree of manual dexterity demonstrated through the use of hand tools.
- You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers and be required to walk and stand on uneven ground.
- You must also be able to work within a confined space, without restriction.
