Quantity Surveyor

Location: Merrow, Guildford

Full time, permanent position

My client is the market leader in the Highways Term Maintenance Industry, responsible for looking after over 50,000 kms of the UK’s highways network. I have an opportunity to join them on their long term contract for the Surrey County Council as a Quantity Surveyor.

You will be based at their Merrow offices in Guildford.

You will assist in the delivery and governance of commercial services to the Maintenance Contract in a manner that achieves value for money for the client and sustainable shareholder value.

The Quantity Surveyor will ensure excellence and best practice in the support of the commercial elements of the Contract and ensure excellence in the engagement and management of the supply chain, contract management and governance. 

Key Responsibilities

• Price works in accordance with the contract using the schedule of rates
• Management of early warnings, compensation events and associated quotations
• Process of cost and value in causeway, Kheops/SAP
• Manage supply chain partners
• Assessment and processing of subcontractor payments and liabilities
• Provide advice on contractual matters
• Represent the company in client and supply chain meetings
• Aid Senior QS in administration of the contract
• Provide effective administration of the contact
• Assist the identification and management of financial risks

Experience Required

• An understanding of BoQ
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of commercial management of works on site
• Effective commercial management of onsite activities and change management process
• Good use of excel and word
• Quantity surveying or Civil Engineering qualification
• Maintain relationships with a high level of trust with client representatives of all levels
• Hands on active support for colleagues
• Keen understanding of commercial terms
