Refugee and Migrant Support Officer – Islington

Are you a passionate, dedicated Refugee and Migrant Support Officer looking for your next role? 4Recruitment Services are recruiting a Refugee and Migrant Support Officer to join a Refugee and Migrant Service Team based in Islington.

Hourly pay rate is £23.48 - £30.75.

3-month contract initially.

Hours are 9am – 5pm, Monday – Friday (35 hours per week).

The role:

  • Oversee a caseload of families and individuals, providing intensive support from their initial welcome in the UK through their first year, followed by a gradual reduction of assistance.
  • Assist the NRPF, Refugee, and Migrant Service in setting a strong example through our practices and teamwork, actively challenging discrimination, racism, and inequality.
  • Coordinate the arrival of new refugee families in collaboration with the Home Office and other government agencies, overseeing the logistical arrangements to support this process.
  • Ensure that immediate welfare, health, and educational needs are met by facilitating school enrolment, benefit applications, GP registration, and providing all other necessary assistance after arrival.
  • Clarify the relevant processes and expectations for the initial months of the scheme to ensure they are understood and followed.
  • Create individual plans to track progress towards agreed goals and positive outcomes in areas such as health, education, housing, and employment.
  • Throughout the program, assist individuals in managing their finances and maintaining their accommodation, including identifying sustainable housing alternatives as their needs or circumstances change.
  • Utilize the expertise of statutory, voluntary, and community sector (VCS) partners, along with civil society organizations, to offer comprehensive support that addresses the complex needs of individuals who have experienced significant upheaval and trauma.
  • By focusing on detail and diligently capturing outcomes for those assisted, contribute to building an evidence base that documents the program's successes and identifies areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Previous involvement in aiding vulnerable individuals and families during periods of transition and uncertainty, while championing fairness and equality in service provision.
  • Holds a degree or possesses a relevant professional qualification, and/or demonstrates work experience equivalent to this standard.
  • Capable of providing excellent face-to-face support in community settings, delivered with sensitivity and respect for the culture, personal history, and circumstances of those being assisted.
  • Outstanding communication abilities to effectively convey complex information concisely to various audiences, and to address situations confidently and assertively as needed.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, adept at working under pressure, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple priorities effectively.
  • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
