Location: Farnborough - GU14. Can be flexible with hybrid working - 3 days per week to be based in the office

Additional Travel: Travel to other sites based around the UK may be required (Expenses paid)

Contract length: 6 month rolling contract

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

 

Randstad Sourceright, a leading provider of RPO & MSP Recruitment Services are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a global company in the Energy and Construction industry. This role is on an initial 6 month rolling contract to be based predominantly at the Farnborough office location with some flexibility for hybrid working. There will also be occasional travel required to sites based around the UK. 

 

The Quantity Surveyor will support key contracts in the Utilities / Rail industries focusing on M&E and Construction phases. The role will be required for varying types of projects such as being a front end engineering consultancy type resource which will then move into the Design & Build phase (Mainly design then support commission of systems) as well as advising/assessing ongoing delivery and quotation of new works in the Energy / Utilities sector. The successful Quantity Surveyor will have a strong M&E and Construction background with proven knowledge and experience in dealing with NEC contracts (Predominantly option A and option E).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Contract and Subcontract administration;

  • Subcontract procurement and tender process through to Subcontract Award;

  • Assist and offer commercial guidance with risk management;

  • Assist Project Manager with Cost to Complete;

  • Assist Project Manager in reviewing progress against programme;

  • Prepare and submit Application for Payment;

  • Manage Subcontractor and supplier Payment process working closely with the Accounts Team;

  • Update and maintain Project Registers and Reports.

 

 Key Skills / Experience Required:

  • The candidate ideally will be HNC/HND/Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management with proven experience. Those without a qualification may be considered if they have substantial experience in a similar role.

  • Experience of ECC / NEC3/4 suite of contracts.

  • Good understanding of working to NEC contracts - particularly option A and option E

  • The candidate should ideally have a multi-disciplinary or Technology/M&E background.

  • Previous Utilities / Rail experience would be beneficial for the role

  • The candidate must be an independent self-starter and expect to be the main point of contact on several projects up to £6 million each.

  • The candidate must be personable and a team player as a large part of the role will also involve being the interface between different people/functions within the team to achieve the necessary commercial outcome.
