Business Development Manager - Construction, Agriculture, Quarrying & Mining (CAQM)

The Business Development Manger will have overall responsibility, for acquiring new OEM customer within the Construction, Agriculture, Quarrying and Mining Markets (CAQM). Most of your time will be spent in the customer environment, building, trust, and loyalty to support long term relationships with key influences, such as buyers, engineers and R&D. You will join a team to continue to deliver world-class service to your customers in the pre and post-sale environment, furthermore the sales process requires a lot of engineering/engineering polymer consultation (to be supported by Nylacast’s internal Engineering Department). The role involves discovering needs, problem solving, analysing processes, presenting ways that Engineering Polymers can add value.

Main duties include:

Sector Management:

Overall responsibility for the key accounts within the designated sector (CAQM), backed with support from the UK team.

  • Identifying new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships or new products and services:

- Building relationships with new clients, gauging their needs and developing proposals to address these needs

- Find and develop a deep understanding of customer needs to be awarded new opportunities to create growth (new applications/new technology/ new geographic locations)

  • Develop, manage and maintain the sales / business plan for the given customers with focus on:

- Developing strategic relationships with targeted clients with proactive communication

- Negotiate contracts and supply agreements

- Keep abreast of market conditions: including economic trends, technological advancement, market share of customers / potential customer (worldwide). Taking these factors into consideration for the management and implementation of the sales / business plan

- Keeps up to date with competitors activity

Sales Performance & Management:

  • Develop long term business relationships targeted OEMs
  • Continuously and proactively researches new supply opportunities
  • Follow-up customer enquiries & leads in a professional timely manner
  • Make outgoing sales calls where and when required (face to face and phone)
  • Prepare and makes presentations to customers
  • Demonstrate and explain products & services to customer representatives, such as engineers, and other professionals
  • Consult with clients on engineering polymer selection and engineering
  • Provide technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to analyse drawings, specifications, proposals & other documentation
  • Meet sales targets / performance measures
  • Ensure that all customers are serviced to the highest standard possible
  • Document & maintain all customer / client databases / files in an accurate and orderly fashion
  • Compiling of key reports

Working relationship

Proactively work with Internal & External Sales Engineers, Administration Teams, Engineering Teams, Sales Manager and Sales Director to develop applications / business relationships.

Work closely with the internal and external Health & Safety teams to ensure the Health, Safety & Welfare of the team / department are constantly meet.

Additional requirement

  • Attend trade shows & exhibitions where required
  • Be prepared to travel globally to support the sector and the business

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Engineering background is essential / Manufacturing background/experience is desirable
  • Proven sales / key account management experience to OEM’s within Construction, Agriculture, Quarrying and Mining Markets
  • Excellent understanding of the routes to market with End Users and Tier 1 and 2 suppliers (ability to liaise with Procurement Managers / Directors, Engineering Managers / Directors to develop business relationships)
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Highly organised

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 5:00pm with a daily 60-minute lunch break – Flexibility as business needs dictate Location: Office HQ/Leicester or home office based with regular travel to customer sites, United Kingdom Equal opportunities and other information / terms:
