This is an outstanding opportunity to join our highly influential Smart Energy and Sustainability team.

From local authorities to universities, and from masterplan developers to hotel chains, we’re proud to be shaping the approach that organisations are taking to decarbonisation and a net-zero future.

Right now, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to lead and grow our BREEAM services and team locally, based in our city centre office in Newcastle.

You’ll be part of our collaborative and growing team across the UK and will help with the development and delivery of a pipeline of exciting and complex projects.

So, what will you be responsible for?

This is an opportunity for you to develop our growing Smart Energy and Sustainability offering locally, as part of wider team across the UK. You will be naturally proactive and help support the development of the local service offering in response to evolving national and local legislative drivers.

Your key responsibilities will be to provide support in the following areas (list not exhaustive):

  • Leading the delivery of BREEAM projects, with support from a senior member of the team.
  • Part L, Energy Strategies and LCA assessment
  • Managing your own workload to meet project deadlines.
  • Reviewing project details and develop targets for sustainability.
  • Reviewing documentation provided by project teams, assess this against the project’s targets and provide feedback or follow-up.
  • Set up and maintain projects via the project evidence tracker.
  • Communicating sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
  • Producing reports providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
  • Attending site visits to review progress against sustainability targets.
  • Reviewing the performance of designated projects on a monthly basis and update the team’s project tracker with progress information.
  • Assisting in preparing bids and proposals for new work.
  • Engaging with skills networks to exchange best practices and processes.
  • Attending and contributing to team meetings.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Thorough understanding of the construction industry and built environment.
  • Ability to manage projects.
  • Client relationship management skills.
  • Proven track record of project delivery.
  • Part L modelling experience (TAS preferable) and LCA experience (Oneclick preferable).

  • Emerging business development and sales skills.
  • Qualified BREEAM Assessor
