About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a MPV Driver to join our Seasonal Treatment team.

This is a key role within the (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) business unit, delivering key shifts for our customer NWR/SCO by demonstrating safe driving and control of a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) across the network.

What you'll be doing

As a MPV Driver you will:

  • Have in depth route knowledge of the Sussex area of the country.
  • Work as part of the MPV Seasonal Team to provide a safe and professional service to the customer;
  • Undertake any necessary working and transit shifts;
  • Consistently work to the plan;
  • Undertake training as required to retain and obtain required competency levels to drive and operate MPV's up to safety critical level;
  • Report any problems or safety issues to the Regional Operations Manager and the engineering team;
  • Comply with the provided Safe System of Work;
  • To comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental;
  • Be prepared to work unsociable hours (nights, weekends, bank holidays, Christmas and New Year) and lodge when workload requires;
  • Be adaptable and flexible in approach to workload demand as required by customers workload.

You will have the following Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Personal Track Safety;
  • Psychometric Testing;
  • Driving Licence and European Train Drivers Licence;
  • Route knowledge;
  • Excellent communication and people skills;
  • Basic IT skills;
  • An ability to apply and champion the company's Health & Safety policy;
  • Personable with the ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Proactive and a good communicator;
  • Self-motivated and ability to work without supervision and on own initiative;
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively;
  • Attention to detail; 
  • Self-improvement and positive attitude to work tasks and requirements.
