A prestigious and renowned institution and lobbyist seeks a Systems Accountant to lead a transformative finance project. The role involves overseeing the development and transition to Microsoft Dynamics Finance and Operations from the current on-premise Open Accounts systems, with delivery expected by mid-2025. As the Systems Accountant, you will engage with and lead the Finance Team's subject matter experts and work closely with the third-party implementation team, Technical Accountant, and Project Team to deliver the statement of work. From the project's inception, you will bring together all stakeholders to design a system that facilitates end-to-end transactional processing and reporting structures and controls. This system will serve the institution across all functions trade union/membership organisation, trading subsidiary, and charity.

Key Responsibilities
  • and support the finance and implementation teams in developing the internal control framework, chart of accounts, ledger setup, authorisation routings, and other data structures for Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations.
  • your expertise in F&O and Power BI to manage and coordinate the development of financial reports and dashboards across all finance functional areas, in collaboration with the third-party implementation team.
  • in data cleansing, conversion, and migration from the current finance systems to the Microsoft Finance and Operations format.
  • support finance colleagues during the testing phase, providing test scripts where necessary, and collaborate with the systems accountant.
  • the systems accountant with BAU finance systems support during the F&O implementation.

Additional Responsibilities
  • the development, standardisation, and implementation of future state end-to-end finance business processes, ensuring a robust internal control environment that meets internal and external audit requirements.
  • subject matter experts in developing the Group Chart of Accounts for the D365 environment.
  • and generate financial and management reports using D365 reporting tools and Power Apps.
  • the Finance System Team on D365 functionality and reporting, enabling them to support the wider finance team during the training and testing phase.
  • the finance team during the discovery, implementation, and testing phases of the project, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data for internal and external reporting.
  • BAU system support as needed.

Knowledge and Skills
  • knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365 Finance and Operations.
  • in implementing and managing Microsoft finance systems.
  • experience in a finance department, with detailed knowledge of all finance functional areas.
  • in processing financial data in a large finance department and for a group of companies.
  • in Microsoft Power Apps, particularly Power BI.
  • experience in building financial reports using Microsoft Dynamics F&O reporting tools.
  • accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAS, Chartered Accountants Ireland, CIPFA).
  • of Open Accounts and eBIS is desirable.
  • in charity accounting and reporting is advantageous.
  • to present information clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance staff.
