Senior Principal Designer Job in Central London

Senior Principal Designer job in Central London or Sevenoaks, Kent for a multidisciplinary consultancy. Our client is a reputable and growing consultancy specialising in residential and affordable housing projects in London and the South, due to expansion of they now need a Senior Principal Designer to join their Principal Designer team, reporting to the Associate Director. They will consider Principal Designers or Architects or Design Managers looking to now focus on a pure Principal Designer role. Offering a salary of up to £70,000 + Discretionary Bonus + Travel + 24 days holiday+ BH + Healthcare.

The consultancy offers a multitude of services including project management, building surveying, cost consultancy, design management and fire safety. Specialising in residential (new build and remedial), affordable housing and major regeneration for Housing Associations, Local Authorities and Private Developers. Made up of 100 employees and 4 offices, they are continuing to grow with a strong pipeline of work across London, Southeast and Midlands and the South West. Their current Principal Designer services are delivered by two Principal Designers, two Architects and a Design Manager and led by the Associate Director, the role will be working across residential, mixed-use, fire remedial and high-rise, high-risk buildings.

Role & Responsibilities

- The Principal Designer will carry out duties in accordance with the Building Safety Act 2022

- Working with Housing Association and Local Authority clients

- Working on residential/affordable housing largescale projects to include high-risk buildings

- Ensure that the design work complies with all relevant Building Safety requirements

- Review the Building Safety Case for the building

- Attend design team meetings and client meetings

- Monitor design work in accordance with project implementation process and the Building Safety Case

- Review existing design, plans, specifications and documentation related to compliance with the Building Regulations

- Ensure any changes made to the design are properly assessed and approved

- Obtain written consent from designers/consultants that their designs are compliant with the relevant Building Regulations

- Prepare and submit signed competence declarations.

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years' experience as a Principal Designer, Design Manager or Architect

- Carried out the role of Principal Designer or keen to move into a role of a Principal Designer

- Ability to coordinate design teams

- Client facing

- Understanding/knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022

- Experience in residential/high-risk buildings would be advantageous

- Understanding and knowledge of the CDM Regulations

- On APS, CIAT, ARB register or working towards

- GradIOSH/IMAPS or higher

- NEBOSH Construction is preferred.
